About Me

I have long been interested in gorgeous nails, and just decided to start sharing photos of what I do! Please be kind! :) Also, if you just like mug and polish photos, check out the tumblr version! morningnailspiration.tumblr.com If you would be interested in having me review your products, send me an email at morningnailspiration (at) gmail (dot) com. When I review products, I usually do 1-2 polishes in a post and wear them for at least 24 hours (for wear tests) before snapping photos. My turn around time on polishes is currently under a week!

Literary Lacquers Shift of Fate

"Jackaroo, written by Cynthia Voigt, is an inspirational novel that takes place in an undefined Middle Ages type placed called the "Kingdom." The central character is a girl, Gwyn, who has been confined by gender (it seems her only option is marriage and the like) and an inability to help the less fortunate (often made less fortunate by the system of classist oppression). She begins to break out of this confinement when she stumbles upon the costume of a legendary figure called "Jackaroo" who is akin to Robin Hood (helps the oppressed with money and the like, rights injustices, all while wearing specific garb and a mask). She begins to mascarade as Jackaroo, helping the people and herself to grow/mature. Essentially, it boils down to action, intrigue, romance (yes, she does find love, but not as it would have been expected of her- she breaks ALL the rules!), and girl-power! I wanted the polish to be inspired by Jackaroo's costume, as a green-gold duochrome with some holo pizzazz. I always pictured it from the front of the book I had (for an image of the cover, http://cherstinieveen.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/jackaroo.jpg?w=595). I chose the name "Shift of Fate" because Gwyn has changed her fate by the decisions she has made, and also because the polish has a lovely color shift to it."

-By ME! from my community collection description. Also, here's where you learn that I am highly addicted to DD iced tea. I forgot to take the photo when you could actually see the tea, but here is the empty container anyway. ;)

Shift of Fate!

Polish Information: This gorgeously clever creation (haha!) is my contribution to Literary Lacquers community collection, titled Shift of Fate. It is a green to gold duochrome with holographic pigment. Coverage is good on this one- two coats to full coverage. I had some minor tip wear within two days of wearing it, and it didn't get any worse by today (fourth day of wear). I fixed the wear with some polish before taking photos. I almost think this looks like it's got some flakies or something in it as well- I keep trying to look into it- it's really a multidimensional masterpiece! On to the picspam...

Final thoughts: I really love this one (as I should, since I helped design it!), but really, I think Amy took my idea, and went above and beyond in creating it! This is really incredible. I can't gush about it enough- so much amazing in one color!! If you'd like your own, check out Literary Lacquers on facebook here or go to her shop here. Please note that this polish was sent to me for being a part of the community collection and for my honest review.

BUT WAIT... She gave me an extra bottle to giveaway, brand new and gorgeous! As I will be sending it out, I am going to limit the contest to US only, so I will be able to track where it goes. I am also going to limit to 18 years or older, for legal reasons. I also reserve the right to add extra things to the package when I send it out! Other than that, just follow what is in the rafflecopter below!

  1. I would love a polish based on the book Fight Club. Maybe a duo chrome called "slide".

  6. Oh shoot, create a polish based on a book... I'd have to say Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory just because I think a snauzeberry and everlasting gobstopper polish would demand amazingness! ;)

  7. Definitely an Ender's Game polish! Maybe called Ender, Valentine, or The Little Doctor

  8. I would probably go with Tolkein's collected works and create a set. First a gorgeous deep green/teal leaning metallic texture called The Shire, it would glow from within with golden and fuschia/berry shimmer and glitter. Ent Draught, a gray jelly with a pronounced pink flash and linear holo. Then Rivendell, an opaque warm gray with chunky and coarse holo shimmer/specks. Beorn is a deep honey colored shimmer. Last but not least, Sauron, a black jelly packed with big red holo circle glitter, multicolor micro glitter and iridescent and golden flakies.

I must say, I love Gretchen Kushner's idea of schnozeberry and everlasting gobstopper!

    1. Oh I forgot, Beorn is a shape-shifter so of course this is a multichrome. Green, gold, amber, rust, pink, orange. All with a holo flash and a pearly or shimmer finish, no harsh brush stokes. :)

  9. I'm a huge Sherilyn Kenyon fan so... I'd probably pick the Dark Hunter Series and do a polish based on Acheron - it'd have to be dark, goth, with some black and red tones thrown in there and of course, a little holo goodness because... well holo makes almost everything better! <3

  10. I'd create a nail polish from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead! It would be a black matte with red lips and glitter! Thank you for the chance!

  11. That's a tough question. I'm more of a movie person lol. And the last movie I saw was Frozen. I think I would love to see a white or a light blue polish with holo.

  12. Life In The Purple Wedge, by Van Harden. It would be purple with blue/red shifting...
