Liquid Sky Lacquer Christmas Cheer

Polish Information: This Christmas polish is Liquid Sky Lacquer's Christmas Cheer from her Elf collection. I LOVE this polish. The base is a green jelly that is fairly faint (so would take many coats to build to full coverage), so it needs an undie (I'd recommend a green or white, as since it is green, it would tint any other color green anyway). I used Zoya Verushka. Application was great for the little glitters, but the bigger glitters were their usual difficult selves. However, I still managed to get a pretty good number of them out!! The candy canes stuck up a little because they were almost the same size as my nails, but the snowflakes were small enough not to poke up with my top coat (I used Color Club top coat and BL basecoat here). I love the combination of glitters in this one, and the little glitters came out super easy and looked great and Christmasy on their own!! I LOVED wearing this one!!

I will also show you my Cinderella hand, where as you can see, I got many fewer big glitters, but the small glitters also looked pretty!! Forgive the cuticles on this one though please! :)

As an afterthought, I am also going to include a few photos from Liquid Sky Lacquer's Blue Daiquiri. This one was a problem child, but a pretty blue. I think it's a testament to how far she has come as an indie maker as this is one of her older polishes. It was a little thin, so I used four thick (very thick) coats, and you can still see a bit of my nail line. It also didn't really color shift as much as I am used to for LSL. The blue was a pretty color with a gold shimmer, but compared to her other amazing polishes, it wasn't as great. I mean, her other color changers were some of the best polishes I have ever used!! So, really, it was an okay polish. Not my new favorite, but it was alright. I'll just show a couple photos here...

Final thoughts: If you love Christmas glitters, run (seriously, RUN) to get Christmas Cheer!! It's such a gorgeous glitter topper that SCREAMS Christmas at you!!! I loved it- application was good, though it does have the typical big glitter difficulty (though they are so packed in there you can still get them- not impossible by any means!). I LOVED it!!!

This beauty is Liquid Sky Lacquer's Looking for Prince Charming, a pink holographic. It looked to be almost lilac or a pink-leaning lavender. It was pretty neutral, a bare change from skin tone for me, but very soft and pretty- worthy of its name and Disney inspiration. Application was smooth. It looked sheer at the first coat, but with two, it was fully covered. Dry time was fast. Very shiny once dried too!

Final thoughts: This was a great soft/neutral holographic, and it makes for a subtle, work-appropriate color and holographic. Very feminine and pretty!

Liquid Sky Lacquer Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins

Was it fun? Did you get a lot of homework? Huh? Do you have any friends? Do you have a best friend? Does he have a big coat, too?..."

Polish Information: This festive polish is Liquid Sky Lacquer's Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins, from her Elf themed collection. It's chock full of tiny green glitters, and has some bigger gold and red glitters as well as gold and silver stars. Application was fabulous- seriously one of the best glitter polishes I have ever tried. The stars came out without any extra effort and two coats gave full coverage on my nails, no base color needed. I think this polish looks like Christmas trees on my nails! Ornaments and star toppers with an evergreen background! Wear time was pretty good- I've had this on since I got it on Saturday, and it is barely worn off at all. The stars also don't stick up hardly at all. I used one coat of Color Club top coat, and it tamed them down easily.

The green glitters were so packed in there that stars that came out on the first layer of polish got covered by the second layer of polish (you can see a few in there if you look closely!). And yes, my nails are nubbins, due to the cold weather drying out my nails a bit, I wanted to keep them shorter and stronger! Anyway, on to the pic spam!!

Final thoughts: This was a fabulously festive Christmas polish and such a wonderful full coverage glitter!! I would highly recommend it!! I don't have much else to say, as I think the photos really speak for themselves!

Painted Polish District 4

Polish Information: This is Painted Polish's District 4 from her Hunger Games inspired collection. She describes it as "'District 4' is known among the districts of Panem for their vast fishing industry. The ocean blue jelly polish resembles the sea depths and sparkles with round and hex emerald green and blue glitters." This polish, although a jelly, was very nicely pigmented, so it was closer to a creme than a jelly. It was very nearly opaque after only one coat! I did two to make sure I wouldn't have a visible nail line, but I really didn't have to. Somehow, despite the opacity, you can still see the glitters in it, and they are lovely! I keep looking at it at different angles and it kind of has me fascinated, like looking into a pool of glittery fish- I would say her description was spot on!

As far as application goes, it was great! It went on smoothly and opaquely. Also nice was that despite the deep blue color, there was no staining on my cuticles where I messily slathered it on (especially on my Cinderella hand- those cuticles really get well covered). It seems like most colors this deep blue stain, but not District 4! (I would still wear a base coat with it- just in case!- but I was impressed.) The big glitters were a little stubborn, but I actually really liked just the little ones- they gave it an ethereal look. It was a very hungry glitter though, so I used three coats of my top coats, very thickly (two coats of Color Club top coat and one coat of Julep freedom), and it was still slightly rough to the touch, but not enough that I would put any more top coat on it. Now, on to the picspam- these are at a few angles/different lighting to try to capture the polish better!

Final thoughts: I'm actually not a dark polish person, but this one had me changing my mind, honestly! The glitters lighten it up, and give it so much depth that it's really a fascinating color. Application was great, but the glitters were very hungry, so expect to use a lot of topcoat if you like a smooth nail! This one definitely captured the water that District 4 is known for, and all-in-all, it was a winner!

Painted Polish Girl on Fire

Polish Information: This polish is Painted Polish's Girl on Fire from her Hunger Games collection. It's a red jelly with many sizes of circle glitters. I applied two coats of Girl on Fire over two coats of Sally Hansen's All Fired Up. Since it was a jelly, I wanted to be sure I wouldn't have visible nail line (VNL) for these photos. Application was very smooth and the little glitters slid out easily and plentifully. The bigger glitters were harder to get out, and on all ten nails, I only ended up with two of the large ones. It did have a great shine when the light caught it, and had a multidimensionality of a very red fire, with light catching it and almost looking yellow or orange at certain angles. It did dry a little rough to the touch, so I used two coats of top coat to smooth it out, but that worked well.

Final thoughts: All-in-all, I thought this was a polish well-deserving of its name, Girl on Fire. Application was great and it definitely had a great multidimensionality to it. I love the Hunger Games series, so I was very excited to try these polishes, and this was a really gorgeous one!

Liquid Sky Lacquer Twilight Plumage

Polish Information: This is Liquid Sky Laquer's Twilight Plumage, a purple/red/blue multichrome with holographic! It applied as perfectly as LSL's other multichrome holographics. Two coats to full coverage (though it was pretty full at just one coat!). I did two coats over butter LONDON basecoat and Julep Freedom topcoat. It dried smoothly as well, no streaks here! The holo was strong with this one as well, so I had to take photos in a bit of shadow to get the multichrome nature to show through. In person, this was not so much of a problem, but cameras can be fickle! Here are a bunch of angles to show the many shades (click on them to make them bigger!):

And it has a very red shade at certain angles!

Final thoughts: This was another gorgeous holographic multichrome from Liquid Sky Lacquer and I'd highly recommend trying them for yourself! Application was great on this one, and coverage was very easy with few coats and no base colors. Plus, the gorgeousness of a multichrome makes it always a gorgeous color at every angle!
